Backing up WhatsApp is simple, but to do so you need to follow a series of steps that you may not be aware of.
For this reason, in the following article we will explain how to make a backup copy of WhatsApp, in a short time and without complications.
Steps to follow
To create a local backup of WhatsApp, log in to WhatsApp and press the three dots icon. Then select “Settings > Chats > Backup” and click “Save“. The backup will be done automatically every day, specifically at 3:00 am.
In case you want to store the backup in Google Drive, go to “Settings > Chats > Backup” and select “Save to Google Drive“. After indicating how often you want the backup to be performed and the other settings, click on “Save“.
Restore backup
In case you want to restore a backup stored in Drive, you only need to reinstall the WhatsApp app and then proceed to verify the phone number. The system will recognize the account and notify that there is a backup in the cloud. Just click on “Restore” to recover the chats.
Instead, if you do not have a backup on Google Drive, you can manually transfer the WhatsApp folder from the old device to the new one. There are two procedures for this:
- If the WhatsApp folder is stored on the external SD card, just remove it from the old phone and insert it into the new one.
- In case the folder is in the internal memory of the cell phone, connect the device to the PC and copy the file, then transfer it to the new device.
In either case, WhatsApp will detect the backup and automatically proceed to restore messages and files, photos, videos, among others.
In this way you can make a backup copy of WhatsApp, in a short time and in a simple way.
